Team Selection and Grading
At Narrikup Netball Club, team selection and grading are conducted in a fair, consistent and transparent manner to ensure players are placed in teams that best support their development, enjoyment and safety.
Selection Trials
- Team selection is completed through a combination of formal selection trials and paper selection.
- Trials are typically held prior to the start of the season, with dates communicated via email and the Club’s social media channels.
- Players wishing to be selected into a team must submit a Pre‑Registration form by the nominated deadline.
- To be eligible for selection, players are expected to:
- Be financial with the Club
- Be eligible for the relevant age group
- Attend both selection trials, unless an apology has been provided prior to the trial date
How Teams Are Selected
Team selection is overseen by a Grading Sub‑Committee appointed by the Grading Coordinator. Each committee consists of between three and five members. When selecting teams, the following factors are considered:
- Performance during selection trials
- Previous season performance and coach evaluations (where applicable)
- Age‑appropriate ability to perform netball skills and techniques
- Present and potential ability
- Commitment to training and participation
The Grading Sub‑Committee’s decision is final.
Notification of Selection
- Players will be notified of their team selection via email as soon as possible following trials.
- Coaches’ names and contact details will be shared once teams are confirmed.
Late Registrations
- Players registering after the trial period may be placed in a team only if positions are available.
- Late placement is at the discretion of the Grading Sub‑Committee.
Player Commitment
- Team placement recognises not only skill and ability but also commitment to:
- Training attendance
- Communication with coaches
- Positive behaviour and teamwork
